In early 2001 A Place Along the Way (APATW) was established by Carla Canada who began providing lunches
in the parks of Pasadena,CA along with inspirational words trying to detour the youth from a life of drugs,
crime and violence.
In 2003 APATW took it indoors and started various educational support groups. Working with high-risk youth
as an alternative to jails and institutions.
In 2005 APATW opened a second location our first emergancy shelter (Fontana). Feeding and sheltering
homeless teens (whether they were runaways or throwaways).
Many individuals have been or are at risk of incarceration, addictions, and homelessness.
In recent years there has been a sharp increase in this diverse and severely undeserved population.
Adolescents in this group have a multitude of needs that must be addressed in order for them
to live satisfying and independent lives within the community.
A Place Along the Way works tirelessly to provide effective services for our youth. APATW has partnered with several public and private
agencies so that we may provide services to our youth and their families in need.
